Hot dogs are a great kid-friendly dinner, and surprisingly low in calories and fat if you get chicken dogs. Corn dogs are tons of fun, but frying them is not only not good for you, it makes dinner heavy and greasy. We tried many times to make oven-corn-dogs, but the batter always fell off. It looked very unappetizing. This corn dog device is perfect. We mixed the batter according to the recipe, put the corn dogs (along with the batter), and a few minutes later, perfect corn dogs on a stick. The outside is crisp (with a nice texture), and the inside fluffy. As close as you can get to frying without actually frying.
It could be improved. First, while hot dogs do come in various sizes, these molds are too short for almost any hot dog. We ended up cutting off the ends of all of them, and then making a corn dog composed of 3 end pieces. It did such a nice job with cooking the bread that you couldn't tell which one wasn't a single dog. Second, it would be nice if the plates were removeable for easier cleaning. I'm still giving this 5 stars because I had an awesome dinner with it.
Overall, glad I bought it, and I would buy it again. Single use appliances are generally not my favorite, but corn dogs need this type of device, and everybody needs home-made corn dogs.
***Update 5 months later***
Wow.... still loving this corn dog maker. Same comments as above--it's not perfect, but everybody in the family looks forward to corn dog night. We use it about once every 2 weeks. We're still buying standard hot dogs, cutting off the ends, and then making a corn dog of cut-off pieces. Another reviewer suggested buying really long hot dogs and cutting them in half. I like that idea, but not sure if they make long chicken hot-dogs. Go ahead and buy this great device, get some spicy honey mustard, and enjoy!

ours is black, which we like because so is our iron deck furniture. so it matches nicely.
it looks good sitting on the deck. up close, when putting it together, you see some flaws. little nicks here and there, the weld where the side meats the bottom. also the protective loop does not align very well. I got picky and spent a lot of time bending it here and there to make it fit tight and flush. had to do the same with the spark screen thing too. as it was so out of round, it woudl not fit on at first.
One thing, at the end of the instructions, just when you are getting excited to fire it up, they tell you to add 5lbs of sand to the bottom. the reason being, to help insulated the surface below(grass, deck, etc) from the heat, and to keep the ash form corroding the bottom of the fire pit. DARN! I wish it said make sure to buy 5lbs of sand while I was buying it at the store! now I got to go get sand.
also, do not leave it in the rain, do not allow it to fill with water as it may shorten its life - corrosion again. I think they need to anodize these things! so make sure you cover it, or put it away, out of the rain.
nice thing, it has a nice grill, as in you can use it to cook on with the supplied grill rack. Nice! and it also has a spark screen and a poker/handle to remove a hot screen with. a lot of fire pits do not include them.

(More customer reviews)After checking the cost of renting a snow cone machine for several days for an upcoming event, I realized I could purchase a new, good quality unit for about the same price as a rental. After comparing various manufacturers and models, I settled on the Paragon Simply A Blast. It seemed like the best value for the features that it offered.
The unit arrived well packaged in a sturdy box with plenty of foam cushioning in the corners, and was easy to set up. It was ready to go out of the box, with the exception of attaching the pusher to the grinding assembly, a matter of removing and retightening one bolt.
This is a heavy unit and is definately not portable. It weighs about 50 pounds and there are no handles or convenient spots to grab it on the bottom to carry it around. The two sides and the "back" -- the side away from the operator, are glass panels and the front side is open. The glass does add to the weight -- polycarbonate panels would make it lighter, but also more expensive.
I will probably purchase a door kit, as ice does splatter around when it shoots down into the tray. Some ice does fly out the open front side and goes onto the operator and onto the floor. Not a big nuisance but it could be if you were running it all day and didn't have an apron on.
Also included is a useful owner's manual, an allen wrench for adjusting the blades to make finer or coarser ice, and a plastic scoop for making snow cones.
Overall, I like this unit a lot and have plans for lots of ways to use this to make some extra money on the side after the big event is over that I purchased it for.

If there is such a person as a nut-aholic, that's me! I love nuts and they're nutritious, too. In the past, glazed nuts have always been special occasion treats, bought in small jars or cellophane bags and doled out sparingly. No more!
The Back to Basics Nut Roaster easily glazes all my favorites - almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews in a quick ten minutes on top of the stove. The roaster itself looks a bit like a deep fry pan with a mixing handle in the center. All I do is put the roaster on our electric cook top over medium high and then add nuts, glaze mixture (more about that later) and specified amount of water to pan. Then, simply rotate the mixing handle until the moisture is gone. I pour the nuts onto a non-stick cookie sheet to cool. If any stick together they're easily separated with a wooden spoon while they're hot.
Now for the promised glaze info: We really like the Back To Basics Toffee and Cinnamon glazes. For either of these we use 2 cups nuts, 3/4 Cup of glaze and 3 Tablespoons of water. Delish!
This past holiday season we gave neighbors and friends jars of glazed nuts for which we received thanks and compliments galore. We also try to keep some on hand in an air tight container for drop-in guests but, to be honest, more often then not they're for us.

It's very high quality, well made, with a lifetime guarantee. You can also adjust the grind from coarse to fine. It's easy to open to pour in some gourmet peppercorns -- just unscrew the little top round chrome thingy and it will open. What else can I say except it really adds to the Christmas spirit. What says Christmas like a smiling snowman? Personally, I drag out all my Christmas items, including using my Christmas china every day, after Thanksgiving. Nordic Ware French Crepes & Wraps Pan and Dipping Dish Review

(More customer reviews)This is the best crepe maker I have ever used, I and I have been making crepes for about 25 years! Anyone who creates a mess on the counter using this product needs to work on their technique.
The main secret is to dip the crepe maker uniformly straight into the pan and hold it there for no longer than about a second. Then immediately lift straight up and hold it there for another 1-2 seconds BEFORE turning it over. This will make the batter cook just enough so that it will not run when you turn it back over (no mess).
Another secret is to LIGHTLY oil the pan often. It takes some practice to find the right amount of oil, as too much oil will cause crepes to fall off into the pan and too little will allow the batter to burn.
One last bit of advice: the batter must be exactly the right consistency; not too thick and not too thin. Again, this takes practice. But with all these things in place, you will make beautiful, perfect crepes every time. I hope this helps.
My only (tiny) complaint about this product is that the batter pan should be heavier. When the batter gets very, VERY low, the pan must be held down to the counter so that the final few crepes do not stick to the pan. Other than that, this product is perfect!
***UPDATE***
Just like the other reviewer, my dipping pan also started to peel after about 3 uses. However, I called the manufacturer and they promptly sent a new one. So if that happens, call them and they will take care of you!
***NEW UPDATE 1/14/11***
I am happy to report that after a year my new dipping pan is still perfect - no flaking! I suppose there was a bad batch at one point and that they fixed the issue. Also, don't be afraid to use it with an electric stove. That's what I have and it continues to work great! This is the third crepe maker I have had in 25 years and it is by leaps and bounds my favorite. I continue to give it an enthusiastic thumbs up!
