I did pay less for it from the same company that listed it on eBay, so you may want to check there. The unit is very durable and pops great tasting popcorn. Be warned though. You may be making several batches because everyone asks for seconds and thirds!
The warming deck is such a plus; something I did not find on similarly priced units. The kettle/motor does sometimes make a clicking sound, but so far has worked without incidence. Clean up is relatively easy. After I finish making popcorn, I place about 2 cups of water in the kettle and heat it up in the unit. I place a large bowl in the bottom of the unit so that after the water comes to a boil, I can dump it out without taking the kettle out. I do this about 3 times and then, after the kettle cools, take it out to wipe down. The kettle cannot be immersed in water. The sides clean up easily with Windex or, if you want, Orange Citrus Degreaser. I also purchased Heat and Kleen to clean carbon build up in the kettle, but have not used it yet.
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this unit. Be sure that you use coconut oil to pop the corn; that is apparently what theaters use. The most difficult part is scooping the oil out because it is NOT a liquid. One trick that I found was melting the oil in the microwave and then pouring it into ice cube trays to harden. I pop two cubes (about 2T) into the kettle with 1/2 cup of corn. Couldn't be easier! I purchased a gallon of coconut oil from the Popcorn Supply Company. You can buy it in the specialty section of a grocery store, but it won't have the bara carotene to make the popcorn yellow. Another must buy is Flavacol, a butter seasoning salt. If your family loves popcorn, you will not be disappointed with this unit! ENJOY!
